Augustine Obeng, MSW, RSW, OCT, is a Ghanaian-Canadian social worker, educator, author, clinician and community leader whose work sits at the intersection of mental health, education, mentorship, storytelling and community systems change. Raised in Toronto’s Jane and Finch community.
Augustine has spent more than two decades working with children, youth, families and communities across educational, clinical and community settings. His professional experience includes mental health and addictions, clinical supervision, social work, youth development, community engagement, organizational leadership and culturally responsive practice. He holds an Honours BA in Criminology and a Bachelor of Education from York University and a Master of Social Work from the University of Toronto, where his studies focused on Indigenous Trauma and Resiliency.
Augustine is the author of Changing Lanes: The First XXV and Poetic Panther. He is also the founder of Changing Lanes, Poetic Therapy and O.B.E.N.G. Consulting. Across these initiatives, he uses mentorship, narrative practice, creative expression, education and community partnership to strengthen belonging, support healing and help people change the direction of their lives. His work is grounded in the belief that people and communities thrive when they are heard, valued, connected and equipped with meaningful opportunities to grow.
